Lake Bled enjoys pleasant, sunny summers when days are long and temperatures can often exceed 25☌, particularly in July and August. This season is soon followed by cooler autumn and winter weather, which is rarely harsh to extremes. Standing on the south-eastern side of the Alps and experiencing warm weather the year round, visitors to Maribor can expect warm summers that are not overly hot. The Maribor climate is strongly influenced by the city’s location. However, don't overlook the Christmas and New Year's celebrations, which brighten up even the harshest of winter weather in Ljubljana. In the Slovenian mountains, the climate is Alpine and relatively harsh. Sunny and dry September is a great time for climbing in Slovenian Alps. Ski season runs from December to March or even April. Swimming season lasts from mid-May to October. During the summer, Ljubljana, Bled and the Slovenian coast become pretty crowded. Summer is Slovenia’s high tourist season, lasting from June to September. The number of hours of annual sunshine are highest in the coastal towns of Piran, Portoroz, Izola and Koper, and lowest in the Slovenian capital Ljubljana. Lake Bled has the longest swimming season of any alpine lake in Europe (from June to late September). However, Slovenia is nestled between the Alps, the Adriatic Sea and the Pannonian Plain and its varied geography creates three distinct Slovenian climates that interact with one another: a sub-Mediterranean climate in the coastal region (the weather near the coast is typically warm and sunny winters tend to be milder than elsewhere in Slovenia), a severe Alpine climate in the high mountain regions (the Alpine winters are colder than elsewhere in Slovenia, and summer temperatures are moderate in the mountains, snow may stay as late in the year as June), and a Continental climate in the northeast (the seasons are clearly differentiated, this climate features the greatest temperature difference between summer and winter).
